This week it was announced by Konami Of Japan that it's fifth instalment within the Winning Eleven series of soccer games would be arriving over to the PlayStation2 platform by next year. Winning Eleven 5 is currently on track to be released next March onto the PC platform.

Many of the previous Winning Eleven titles have traditionally done quite well on the PlayStation platform, with the last two games in the series selling more than 4 million copies worldwide.

The fourth instalment of the series; Winning Eleven 4 was re-titled as ISS Pro Evolution when it arrived over for North American audiences. It is expected that the capabilities of the PlayStation2 will improve the already excellent artificial intelligence and precise control found in the previous instalments.

This game will include the full player and team roster for the 2001 Japanese national team along with data from more than 50 international teams. Hopefully, this game will turn out to be a winner. We will have more news on this as it happens.
